PPG announced the completion of five COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® projects in France. The projects helped revitalize four hospitals and a residence center and were carried out as part of a partnership with non-profit AFM-Téléthon, which supports research to fight muscular dystrophy and other diseases.
The partners also commissioned the following artists to design and paint inspiring murals for the facilities with the help of PPG volunteers:
“Thank you to the PPG teams that, for four years, have brought color to healthcare facilities to the benefit of our patients everywhere in France,” said Laurence Tiennot-Herment, president of AFM-Téléthon. “Bravo for the great job done during the telethons. I look forward to seeing you next year.”
The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world. PPG has seven manufacturing plants and five research facilities in France.
“This is the fourth year that we have committed to AFM-Téléthon,” said Pascal Tisseyre, PPG vice president, architectural coatings, Europe South. “For the 2021 telethon, we mobilized our employees across France to renovate places of care and make this a great moment of sharing and conviviality.”
- The projects brought together about 200 PPG volunteers who spent more than 1,400 hours revitalizing the following five medical facilities as part of AFM-Téléthon’s 2021 telethon:
- Hôpital Armand-Trousseau AP-HP in Paris;
- Hôpital des Enfants CHU in Toulouse;
- Hôpital Roger Salengro in Lille;
- CHU La Réunion site Sud in Saint-Pierre; and
- Résidence AFM-Téléthon Yolaine-de-Kepper in Angers.
The partners also commissioned the following artists to design and paint inspiring murals for the facilities with the help of PPG volunteers:
- Painter Carole Lombardo designed a mural based on colorful nature-inspired forms for Hôpital Armand-Trousseau AP-HP;
- Street art duo Marie and Clément designed a mural at Hôpital des Enfants CHU that tells stories of children from different cultures;
- Bertrand Parse, a graffiti artist, created a mural on the theme of space for Hôpital Roger Salengro;
- Julien Chatelar, an interior designer, created another nature-inspired mural for CHU La Réunion site Sud; and
- Muralist and painter Théo Lopez created an outdoor mural with a bold color palette at Résidence AFM-Téléthon Yolaine-de-Kepper.
- PPG launched an AFM-Téléthon fundraiser for its employees in 2021, with the company doubling the contribution of each employee. That effort raised more than $16,000 (14,000 euros).
