BASF MAKES NUMBER OF
NEW APPOINTMENTS
BASF has appointed Christopher J.
Hummel product marketing manager
in the BASF functional polymers architectural
coatings business located in
Charlotte, NC. Hummel comes to BASF
with 18 years of chemical industry
experience from the Huntsman
polyurethanes business (formerly ICI),
where most recently he served as sales
and commercial manager in the coatings,
adhesives and elastomers group.
Joseph M. Gantner has joined the
BASF functional polymers business as
a technical sales representative for the
northeast region of the U.S. Gantner
comes to BASF from Wolstenholme
International Inc., where he was eastern
regional sales manager responsible
for sales of metallic pigments, metallic
inks and carbon black dispersions in
West Chicago, IL.
Jay Bhatia has been appointed industry
manager for epoxy and polyurea in
the company’s intermediates business
in North America. In his new role,
Bhatia will be responsible for managing
the BASF intermediates’ marketing
activities relating to epoxy and
polyurea coatings in North America. He
will be based at BASF’s North
American headquarters in Florham
Park, NJ.
BASF has also appointed Christof
Herion director of production for its
intermediates unit located in Geismar,
LA, where diols and derivatives, and
amines are produced. Since joining
BASF in 1989, Herion has held various
technical and commercial positions in
process licensing, catalyst marketing,
petrochemical operations and marketing
of intermediate chemicals.
