Formed in 1999, Becker Industrial Coatings Malaysia has outgrown its original manufacturing plant and has now commissioned a larger plant of 5,500 square meters in Kota Kemuning, Selangor.
The new site was identified in 2004 and a ground breaking ceremony took place on Aug. 11, 2004. A year later relocation to the new plant started and current utilization of the new factory stands at more than 80% of installed capacity.
“The quality of our staff has been key to Beckers’ growth and numbers have grown from five in 2000 to 55 now, all of which are local Malaysians,” said Y.P. Ng, managing director.
In addition to serving the fast-growing Malaysian coil coatings market, the plant supplies plastic coatings for mobile phones and exports to the burgeoning markets of Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. According to the company, it is also doing significant coil coatings business in Vietnam and is currently identifying a suitable site for future manufacturing facilities.
