BASF, the largest chemical producers in the world by sales has recently launched a new green/ bio-based Polyol that doesn’t contain any volatile organic compounds (VOC). The products will be used for manufacturing extremely low-emission 2K PU coatings suitable for applications on different types of interior and exterior applications. Since it is produced using renewable raw material and bereft of any VOC, it results in the production of more sustainable coatings with very high levels of stability. Further the coating has high excellent hardening and mechanical features & having excellent durability even under very difficult conditions.
With the introduction of this product, the company has extended its range of high-quality bio-based polyols which is already sold under the Sovermol trademark. The new product offering Sovermol® 830 promotes sustainable development for industrial flooring systems or sports halls since the coatings are very resistant to potable water & semi-structural adhesives.
The coating exhibits very curing properties, even in challenging environments with the presence of high humidity and temperature. The product as claimed by the company has excellent filling levels and low processing viscosity. This results in bringing down the overall cost of Sovermol 830 formulation. Despite the extended processing time of Sovermol 830, the surface can be used for walking just after a day of the application ensuring less downtimes in the operation of industrial process.
As claimed by the company it is an ideal solution for most durable coatings and combining with additives, cross-linkers and co-binders enable end-users to get the required mechanical properties.
Bio-based solvents find a wide range of applications in industries such as adhesives & sealants, paints & coatings, printing inks, and industrial cleaning among many others. A recent report added by Big Market Research titled “World Green/Bio-Based Solvents Market - Opportunities and Forecast, 2014-2020 estimates the market to grow at 4.3% CAGR during the forecast period 2015-2020.
