BASF’s Coatings group inaugurated its Paint Application Center and an extension of its Development Laboratory at the production site in Tultitlán, Mexico. It aims to strengthen the technical support for the automotive industry and to develop sustainable and customized coating materials and technologies. The new facility will support activities including technical service for basecoats, pigments and dispersions as well as the introduction of new colors.
Focused on sustained growth and innovation for the automotive market, the Coatings division in Mexico is of key importance to the North American Coatings division and its overall focus on serving the automotive market with world class products and services.
“The establishment of the facility is an important step to further strengthen our international technical network and the capability to support the business of our customers in North America," said Juan Carlos Ordoñez, senior vice president of coatings for North America. "We also improve our ability to properly serve our customers in the growing automotive industry in Mexico.”
With an investment of $10 million, the new facilities will offer best in class services for the dynamic and growing automotive industry. The investment includes a wet and dry laboratory, spray booths with two electrostatic and three manual functions, and a dispersions laboratory.
