The Metropolitan New York Coatings Association (MNYCA) will present as its first technical meeting a symposium titled, Troubleshooting Coating Defects. The symposium will be held April 14, 2011 at Evonik Degussa Corp. located at 2 Turner Place in Piscataway, New Jersey. Lunch, which is included in the symposium fee of $75.00, will be served at 11:30 am. The meeting itself will begin at 12:00 noon.
Dave White of Heucotech, Ltd., the technical committee chair, has brought together a diverse array of talent to analyze the topic. David Hurwitz (Edica-Garnett Partners, LLC) will set the tone with a presentation on the Brave New World in Paint and Coatings – More of the Same, Only Different.
He will be followed by Robert Yager (Rational Thinking, Inc.) who will speak on Trouble Shooting Difficult OEM Coatings Problems; Jadel Baptista (Colortrend USA, LLC) will set forth New Advances in Solvent Borne Colorants Technology; and Dr. Romesh Kumer (Clariant Corp.) will analyze Colored Pigments: Chemistry and Performance: A Technical Presentation.
Rick Caldwell (Forbo Bonding Systems) will speak on Latex-Using Design of Experiments to Resolve Burnishing, Foam and Color Float Issues in Satin/Semi-Gloss Coatings; Thomas M. Papasso (Evonik Corp.) will discuss a Novel Matting Agent for Low Gloss UV Coatings; Raymond Stewart (Bayer Material Science, LLC) will explain One Component Waterborne Dispersions – Keys to Good Formulating Practices; and Patrick Lowery ( Munzing) will round out the day with a presentation on the Never Ending Additive Battle. The presentations will be followed by a panel of experts and a question and answer period.
