DuPont and Russkie Kraski Corp. recently created a joint venture aimed at supplying automotive coatings to manufacturers of automobiles and commercial vehicles in Russia and some countries in Eastern Europe.
The new company, DuPont Russian Coatings LLC, will draw on technologies licensed from both partners.
Russkie Kraski is the Russian Federation's largest manufacturer of automotive coatings and resins, with research and development, technical support and sales and marketing capabilities.
"This new joint venture will serve expanding automotive production in Russia and other Eastern European countries and builds on a series of DuPont investments designed to grow our business in emerging markets," said Marty McQuade, vice president and general manager, DuPont Automotive Systems. "Over the past several years, we have leveraged our technology and strengthened our market leadership position in South America and Asia, and now in Eastern Europe, to meet the needs of the world's fastest growing auto manufacturers."
The joint venture, headquartered in Yaroslavl, will supply local and international car makers in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine with coatings and technical support. Plans also call for the establishment of a new quality control and technical service laboratory in Yaroslavl staffed with scientists from DuPont and Russkie Kraski.
The company's product offering includes coatings for passenger cars, trucks and buses, including off-line painted plastic parts, and exterior and interior metal parts. Products will be toll-manufactured by Russkie Kraski or imported from DuPont manufacturing sites in Europe and elsewhere around the world.
