Patent No. 6,838,177 B2
PPG Industries has received a
patent for a process for priming a
surface that is comprised of applying
a UV radiation curable to the area to
be primed and curing the primer
with UV radiation provided by one
or more UV lamps having a UVB:
UV-A ratio of 1:1 or less. The UV
radiation curable primer is comprised
of zero to 84% by weight of
one or more compounds containing
one ethylenically unsaturated freeradically
polymerizable group per
molecule; five-50% by weight of one
or more compounds containing two
or more ethylenically unsaturated
free radically polymerizable groups
per molecule; 10-70% by weight of
one or more pigments, fillers and/or
dyes; one to eight percent by weight
of one or more photoinitiators; zero
to 20% by weight of volatile organic
solvent; and zero to 10% by weight of
customary additives.
