Emery Oleochemicals said its Eco-Friendly Polyols business platform will showcase its latest coatings product and application development research at the 2019 Western Coatings Symposium being held in Las Vegas, NV, from Oct. 20-23.
On Monday, Oct. 21 at 10:15 a.m. in Room Versailles 1/2, Eric Geiger, Emery’s technology manager, will present “Design Considerations for the Selection, Use and Formulation of a Polyurethane Coating Using Azelate-Based Polyester Polyols.”
Attendees can learn how azelate-based polyester polyols provide unique physical properties and performance benefits to subsequent polyurethane polymers that incorporate them.
These polyols offer several performance benefits of interest to formulators based on structure-property considerations such as the odd-even effect, the aliphatic nature of their structures, and the consequent polarity contribution of the carbonyl groups that define the polyester polyol composition. Key benefits include a diverse hydrophobic characteristic as well as improved chemical resistance.
