Dow Coating Materials will be at Western Coatings Symposium 2015 (October 25-28, 2015, Las Vegas, Nevada) on Booth #200 to showcase PARALOID Edge Isocyanate-Free Technology.
This novel isocyanate free polyurethane technology has been developed based on the reaction of a polycarbamate with a polyaldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst to form a crosslinked polyurethane coating under ambient conditions. It offers advantages over the traditional two component isocyanate cured polyurethane coatings such as decoupling of the coating cure time from pot life, the components of this system are not manufactured with isocyanates, and easier application. Traditional polyurethane coatings are well known for their excellent properties including weatherability, chemical resistance, and toughness. Typically formulators must balance their cure speed from pot life during formulation and application. To the coating applicator, decoupling pot life from cure speed has significant benefits, which allows the faster return to service, higher production throughput and less material waste.
Technical Presentation:
Isocyanate Free Polyurethane Coatings – A Novel Technology for Industrial M&PC Applications
Yanxiang Li, Research Scientist, Dow Coating Materials
(Tuesday, October 27 / 10:15am - 10:45am / Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino)
This paper will discuss in detail the chemistry, the performance attributes and benefits as well as other coating performance properties such as good weatherability and chemical resistance for industrial maintenance and protective applications.
