CEPE held its Annual Conference and General Assembly September 18-20 at the Intercontinental Hotel in St. Julian’s, Malta. The conference offers attendees a look at the key issues effecting the EU.
A welcome reception held on the rooftop of the Intercontinental Hotel kicked off the event. The event attracted more than 130 executives involved in the paint and coatings industry.
Jan van der Meulen, managing director, CEPE addressed the audience with Review of CEPE work and paint statistics for 2018.
The morning session began with an informative talk from Joao Serrenho, CEO of Portugal-based CIN. He presented “The coatings market in Africa: Potentials and challenges.” His talk focused on the opportunities and risks in doing business in Africa.
Other topics discussed in the morning session EU’s economic climate, mobility challenges concerning coatings and the DIY versus do-it-for-me. The afternoon session had parallel sessions focused on decorative coatings and industrial coatings and featured speakers from PPG and AkzoNobel.
The event concluded with CEPE Night, which offered attendees an opportunity to network with their colleagues. Jan van der Meulen announced that after 15 years he would be retiring as managing director of CEPE. Information on his successor will be announced at a later date.
The next CEPE Annual Conference and General Assembly will take place at the Melia Princess Hotel in Madrid, Spain, September 30-October 2.
