PPG has completed a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project to help beautify part of the Colegio Villar Palasí school’s grounds in Quart de Poblet, a municipality in Valencia. The project brought together more than 90 PPG volunteers, teachers, and parents, who spent two days transforming the school’s playground and external building.
PPG provided $45,000 (44,500 euros) to support the renovation and supplied more than 182 gallons (690 liters) of SEIGNEURIE, SELEMIX and DYRUP paints by PPG.
The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Valencia, where the company has a manufacturing facility for automotive coatings production.
The Colegio Villar Palasí is a nursery and primary school attended by more than 185 students, from 3 to 12 years, including children with special needs. The institution also hosts a music academy and sports facilities that are open to all the neighborhood’s residents, with the objective of promoting cultural and leisure activities in the community.
“We are thrilled to cooperate with PPG and to welcome the Colorful Communities initiative, which will transform an important educational facility into a more welcoming and colorful place for our students, teachers, and local community,” said Maria Carmen Ramirez Martinez, Quart de Poblet’s Mayor.
PPG volunteers chose bright colors to renovate the exterior walls of the school’s building and the playground, where the students play and practice sports. In cooperation with distributor Tricolor Group and a local artist, David Garcia, the participants also created two murals that represent diversity, equity, and inclusion among the students – one of the most important values of the school.
“I’m really proud to see the enthusiasm of employees and the synergy created together with the local community to use the power of color to inspire, enhance learning, and improve both students’ and teachers’ experiences,” said Nuria Martinez, PPG plant manager, Valencia.
