The Metropolitan New York Coatings Association (MNYCA) will be hosting its Second Annual Symposium on the topic “Back to the Future” at The Landmark in East Rutherford, New Jersey on March 22, 2012. Dave White of Heucotech, Ltd., the MNYCA’s technical committee chair, announced a roster of nine presenters and their topics, all of which are pertinent to today’s coatings industry. The event, which will start at 8:30 AM, will include both a continental breakfast and lunch. The fee for the entire day including breakfast and lunch is $125.00.
The presenters will include Svetlana Sukhishvili (Stevens Institute of Technology) whose topic is Smart Coatings. On that same topic James Zunino (US Army) will present his findings. Thomas Hanna (Dupont) will discuss TiO2 Optimization; Bob McMullen (BYK) will explore Predisposed Nanoparticles and Their Influence on Sustainability for Coatings, while Lars Kirmaier (Heubach) will consider IR Reflective Pigments.
Robert Iezzi, Ph.D., (NEI Corp.) will focus on Novel Nanocomplosite Self-Healing Coatings from a Systems approach. Green Formulating Using Engineered Functional Fillers will be Scott Van Remortel’s (Unimin Corp.) topic. Heather Eckenrode (Dow) will explain the Comparable Exterior Durability of Hiding Alternatives to TiO2 in Architectural. Rick Caldwell’s (Forbo Bonding Systems) presentation will be on Bio Based and Green Additives Impact on VAE Semi Gloss Performance. The final presentation will include an examination of the New Regulations for Emerging Technologies, i.e. Nanotechnologies. The addresses will be followed by a panel of experts and a question and answer period.
The event is geared to attract all who work in the paint and coatings industry. Any questions you may have about the event will be fielded by technical committee chair Dave White at davewhite@heubachcolor.com or Ann Fody, MNYCA’s executive director, at 732.291.0168 or fodyassociates@comcast.net.
